Svartsot - De to ravne versuri traducere în engleză
Translation
The Two Ravens
I was walking into the grove
I saw two ravens there conversing.
The one turned to the other:
'Where will we find our food today?'
'There in the meadow, by the green wall
A slain knight lies under his shield,
And no one knows that he lies there,
But his hound, his hawk, and his beloved.'
'His hound hunts in the wild wood.
His hawk seeks its prey in the sky.
His lady has given herself to antoher.
So we can eat our meal in peace.'
'His white collarbone you can sit on,
Then I will peck out his blue eyes,
And with a lock of his golden hair
Our nest will be build for autumn.'
'Many have brought him anguish,
But none will know of his fate,
For over his cold pale bones
There blows forever a bitter wind.'
I saw a smith, an elm, an owl
I saw them drink all three.
Then they had no more to drink.
They left for the country road.
Here they met a fiddler
Thirsty they emptied the man's porter
oh, that poor fiddler
they left for the country road.
I saw a smith, an elm, an owl
I saw them drink all three.
Three they came to a watering bucket.
They drank it empty, they were thirsty
oh, that poor watering bucket,
they left for the country road.
I saw a smith, an elm, an owl
I saw them drink all three.
At the road's end they finally came.
A boy stood before them and shouted.
Nevermind, said the three,
and they went the other way.
